Why pixel art works for favicons
A favicon has to survive extreme compression. At 16x16 pixels, every mark matters. Pixel art keeps the shape deliberate instead of asking a large logo to blur down into a tiny square.
Start from a simple silhouette
Good favicons usually begin with one strong silhouette, one accent color, and enough empty space to keep the symbol readable. pxicons lets you test that shape immediately in 16px, 32px, 48px, 64px, and 128px previews.
Export for a real website
Use PNG when you want a single image file for modern icon tags. Use ICO when you want one favicon file that bundles the common browser sizes. The favicon.ico maker guide explains the export in more detail.
